The tour on Saturday August
8th 2009 will start at 9.20am - and cross Abbey Road 40 Years
to the Minute since the Beatles! For more details of our day
of celebrations please click here
"There
are places I'll remember all my life", sang the Beatles
in one of their most evocative songs. Many of those places
are in the "London Town" of this walk.
- So
get back with Richard to the place where the opening scenes
for A Hard Day's Night were filmed;
- the
restaurant featured in Help!,
- the
former Apple Shop which had the psychedelic mural
painted on the wall;
- the
registry office where two of the Beatles were married,
- the
apartment immortalised by Ringo, John and Yoko where
the infamous 'Two Virgins' picture was taken.
- We'll
also see the house where Paul lived with Jane Asher. Those
were the days ... for it was in that house that
John and Paul wrote I Want To Hold Your Hand.
- And
for a grand finale - the legendary Abbey Road studios
and crosswalk
- The
tour ends at the Beatles
Coffee Shop, where you can buy a range of Beatles
souvenirs including The
Guide to the Beatles London.
Special
Abbey Road Anniversary Tour
Saturday
August 8th at 9.20am from Marylebone Station
On
August 8th 1969 The Beatles crossed the pedestrian crossing
by Abbey Road Studios to pose for pictures for the front
cover of their new album. Only six pictures were taken
in all, and the photo shoot lasted for 10 minutes. Since
then millions of people have posed on the crossing to
recreate this iconic photo.
On
Saturday August 8th the tour will cross Abbey Road exactly
40 years TO THE MINUTE since the Beatles! We expect
some Beatles related celebs to be at Abbey Road for
the event.
After
the tour many Beatles fans will be going to a nearby
restaurant to celebrate.
There
is no need to book for the tour, but to give us an idea
of how many people to expect on the tour, please email
me to let me know if you are coming. Also if you
would like to come to the restaurant please
let me know.
The
anniversary will also be celebrated at the Beatles
Coffee Shop, which is only five minutes walk away
from the famous crossing.
Please
note the 11.20 tour will not go ahead that day.

Walking with Richard - a song about this tour!
A while ago a musician called Ed McKendry came
on my tour - and wrote a song about it! His band The Difference
- which is the corporate band of 'Air Products' in the USA,
recorded the song on their CD 'Songs I Always Wanted to do'.
Below are the lyrics of the song, printed by kind permission
of Ed:
Walking with Richard
Words and music: Ed McKendry
Performed by: The Difference
He traveled alone, to Marylebone, hey-hey
He's walking with Richard today
Little bit o' rain won't turn him away, hey-hey
He's walking with Richard today
Chorus
Saturday in London town
He's a long way from home
He's taking the tour to see the fab four, hey-hey
He's walking with Richard today
Collarless suit, black Beatle boots, oh-yeah
He's making pretend today
He'll cross Abbey Road like numbers untold, oh-yeah
He's walking with Richard today
The British Music Experience
In the spring of 2009 a new attraction opened in London
called the British Music Experience. It is a permanent
exhibition at the O2 Centre - one of London's top music
venues. There is much Beatles content in the exhibition,
along with all the other British music legends.
It is highly recommended - to find out more check out
their website at http://www.britishmusicexperience.com/
